Muhammad Qavi Khan best known for his stage name Qavi
Khan, who is a Pakistani film, television and stage actor, film producer and
director. The veteran actor has also served for the establishment Radio
Pakistan. He has given his acting performance in over 200 Pakistani films and a
large number of television dramas. He was born on 13 November 1932, in
Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan and raised in Swat. Now he resides in
the heart of Pakistan, Lahore. Qavi Khan got married in 1968.
Khan started his great career in the entertainment
industry as a child actor from the Radio Pakistan, Peshawar. At that time, he
was at a very young age. Later on, he moved to Lahore with his family in 1964
when the broadcasting of television was first started in Lahore. Khan worked
for the Pakistan Television Corporation as one of the first actors of PTV.
Khan is best known for his outstanding performance in the
police drama serial “Andhera Ujala”, aired on PTV during the 1984 to 1985
television season. The drama serial included Khan as a lead actor alongside his
other fellow actors, such as Irfan Khoosat and the late Jamil Fakhri.
He has also starred as an actor in various television
plays. He has also made his debut in the Pakistani romantic television serial
“Ishqa Waay” along with Sami Khan and Rabab Hashim. The drama was aired
on Geo TV in 2015. This drama is the love story of a guy who has two wives. The
serial was a huge hit and was acclaimed by the audience. His one of his recent
television performance was in a Sufi spiritual series “Alif Allah Aur Insaan”
with Mikaal Zulfiqar, Kubra Khan, aired on Hum TV in 2017. This serial was
based on the novel of the same name. The drama revolves around the stories of
five different people of different backgrounds, faith, and conviction. It was
the highest rating serial at that time.

Following his steps of success in the drama industry, he
started his film career in 1965. Though now, he has worked more than 200
film/telefilm in the Lollywood. Despite this, Qavi has also produced 13 Urdu
and Punjabi films and, also has directed one movie in 1985. “The Tiger Gang”
was one of the early film performances in 1971. The film based on the Kommissar
X Eurospy. The stars are Tony Kendall, Brad Harris, Gisela Hahn, Mohammad Ali,
and Zeba along with Qavi Khan.
He’s one of the recent films in was 2017 horror film
“Pari” which was directed by Syed Atif Ali and written by Syed Atif Ali and
Muhammad Ahsan jointly. The film actors other than Qavi Khan are Rasheed Naz
and Saleem Mairaj. He is also played in the Lollywood
blockbuster movie “Wrong No.” with Danish Taimoor and Sohai Ali Abro. The film is about a crazy boy Sallu, who
wants to become a Super Star and he played the role of Nawab. The actor
was highly praised by the audience after a worth admiring performance in this
movie.
Qavi Khan is one of the great names in the history of
Radio Pakistan as well as Television history who spent his whole life to
establish the Pakistan entertainment industries by his wonderful performances.
Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) has arranged an event in its
auditorium to pay tribute to the achievements of Qavi Khan in March 2011in
Islamabad.
